Mapping the Novel:
A Cataloging Project

Welcome!

Hello and welcome to our site. We have proposed a cataloging method for MARC21 using RDA to catalog novels that include illustrated fictional maps. You will find an outline of our policy and an essay describing the issues we came across whilst doing this project.

Old World Map

The Collection

Our collection pertains to  novels, physical or digital, that contain fictional map illustrations that directly relate to the content of the text

Below you shall find examples of six novels that have been cataloged according to RDA standards and MARC formatting that include fictional maps, such as:

The Lord of the Rings, the Phantom Tollbooth, Shadow and Bone, and more!
